"The Queen, s House”

The Queen's House is located at Johannesgatan 16 in Stockholm and was named after Queen Ulrika Eleonora the Elder. The house was built in 1689 according to plans by architect Mathias Spieler on the initiative of Ulrika Eleonora as Johannes Hospital and was a so-called mercy facility. In 1733, the business was changed to home to ”age-old, sickly and in poor est widows and daughters of civil and military officials and officials, priests, bourgeoisie, and such court servants, who had not carried livery.” In 1745 the house was named Drottninghuset. It was also known as the Queen's Hospital.
